Ansgar Valbø was born in Germany in 1967 and moved to Norway in 1976. After graduating from The University for the Creative Arts in England in 1994, Ansgar has been working as a Graphic Designer and Photographer.
Since 2013 he has been running his own studio in Nydalen, Oslo. His work spans from commercial and illustration photography to personal projects like portraiture, nature photography and painting with light.
Nature has always been a great source and influence to Ansgar. With its harmonic shapes and graphic patterns nature is an inexhaustible and constantly changing source of inspiration. In addition to series of Seascapes and Skyscapes, Ansgar also has series of objects found in nature and painted with light. The technique makes it possible for photographer to highlight shape and texture to the desired level. The finished image is characterized by almost iconic, elevated representation of the object emerging from the background.
As a result of growing up in a family of painters, sculptors and craftsmen, Ansgar’s need to express himself artistically has come quite naturally. It has led to a strong awareness and visual fingerprint, constantly searching for the next subject.
