Jon Langeland, artist name, «leftjohn», was born in Oslo 1951 and still lives there.
He takes pictures to show the beauty, personality and interaction between animals in their natural surroundings. Many of the species Jon photograph are endangered and some may be extinct in some decades.
Jon is a doctor, educated and working as a dermatologist, when he is not travelling the world with his photobag. He got his first SLR camera 12 years old and has photographed his whole life.
From 2007, after a photo trip to Kirgistan, he gradually increased his wildlife photography and started to travel to remote places like Kenya, Galapagos, Svalbard, Alaska ++. From always using the longest lenses taking close ups of mammals, Jon has changed to doing more landscapes with animals but still enjoys his longest lenses .
Jon is popular on Instagram with more than 20K followers and In periods publish one picture a day.
He is a finalist in some of the most prestigious photo competitions in the world and his pictures have been “commended” and published twice among the top 100 out of 50 000 in the GDT European Wildlife Contest.
Jon has been doing photo travels to Kenya, Svalbard, Galapagos, South Georgia, Antarctica, Rwanda, Kamchatka, Kodiak(Alaska), British Columbia, Pantanal, Patagonia, Borneo and more.
