Sandra Blikås (29) – Freelance Illustrator based in Oslo
Sandra investigates form and color to give us imaginative swirling illustrations. She has a distinct style to the way she handles shapes and composition, creating vibrant and unique-looking motives, inspired by everyday scenery.
Originally from Fræna in Møre & Romsdal, Sandra graduated from the Norwegian School of Creative Subjects in Trondheim in 2011, majoring in both graphic design and illustration. She started working as an illustration teacher alongside freelancing shortly after graduating. Sandra now resides in Oslo working full-time as an illustrator, represented by byHands Agency.
The processes involved in creating an illustration is as varied as the images themselves. Inking, drawing or painting are just some of the techniques used to create the initial layout and theme. Finalizing a piece, she is often lost in the work, deeply zoomed in, building shape by shape, piecing together the final composition. She loves to embed stories within the illustrations, allowing the viewer to explore and find small pieces of context throughout her work.
